All waste batteries are hazardous and there is stringent legislation governing their handling, storage, transport and disposal. With more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, G & P has an established reputation for the safe removal of any type of battery or battery powered appliance in accordance with all current legislation. It can handle batteries used in applications ranging from major stand-by batteries to the smallest button cells and is regarded as the UK expert in handling every possible battery chemistry.

The market leading company’s service is split into four distinctive areas: Bank, Collect, Sort, Recycle. The company provides a wide range of battery banks for customers to store waste batteries safely until they are collected. It offers a timely and cost-effective collection service for battery quantities ranging from 5 kg to 28 tonnes. Its headquarters in Darlaston, West Midlands, has a dedicated battery sorting operation to identify all battery chemistries and separate for optimum recycling. Finally, G & P has a comprehensive recycling network, to ensure waste batteries are recycled in accordance with all current UK and EU legislation.

Automotive: Any battery used for the starting or ignition of the engine of a vehicle, or for providing power and lighting used by such a vehicle.

Industrial: Any battery or battery pack which is

  • designed for industrial or professional uses;
  • used as a source of power for propulsion of an electric vehicle;
  • unsealed, but is not an automotive battery;
  • sealed, but is not a portable battery.

Portable: Any battery or battery pack which is sealed, can be hand-carried without difficulty and is neither an automotive nor industrial battery.
