Lead

Pure Lead/Soft Lead
Also known as LME* grade lead, this has a purity of between 99.97% and 99.99%. Pure lead is generally used to provide a specific performance such as for battery oxides or in lead chemicals. It is the basic raw material for the active material component in lead acid batteries. All pure lead and soft lead can be delivered to any LME warehouse.

Lead alloys
A wide range of products containing differing levels and types of alloying elements which give different physical characteristics to the alloy (e.g. strength, ductility) for a range of applications in the manufacture of battery grids and other metallic parts of lead-acid batteries. Lead alloys are also used in the manufacture of other lead products, such as cable sheathing and shot.

Non Lead

Sulphuric Acid
Produced by the removal of sulphur from concentrates and other sulphur-bearing feedstock, this is sold to a variety of industries for use in chemicals and fertilizers.

Polypropylene
Recycled from lead acid battery casings, this is sold for re-use in the automotive, white goods and building industries. Polypropylene is produced or recovered by all of our secondary lead smelting facilities. At some of our facilities the recovered polypropylene is then treated to produce a polypropylene pellet to be used as a raw material for plastic extruders. Following a more rigorous compounding process we can create a more defined, higher added value product with engineered specifications suitable for more sophisticated applications. In Germany we offer this special quality under the trade name Seculene® PP.

Sodium Sulphate
This is sold primarily to the glass and detergent industries.

Calcium Sulphate (Gypsum)
A product of high quality and purity which is produced in a process developed in-house by one of our companies. It is sold for use in the agricultural sector.

Silver
This is recovered from the concentrates processed in our primary smelter. The silver we produce is doré bullion, containing 99.5% silver.
