More than 70 per cent of the lead currently in circulation is recycled and of that, more than three quarters of the lead produced is used to manufacture vehicle batteries. Two of the industry’s most advanced and respected battery collection systems operate in Germany and the UK and both are part of the ECOBAT group. They ensure the professional, collection transportation and storage of used batteries, before forwarding the batteries for recycling at the ECOBAT recycling plants.

Because they are dealing with hazardous waste, these logistics companies are dedicated to maintaining the highest environmental standards and are certified according to national duty of care legislation for the collection, transportation and storage of batteries. As with all ECOBAT operations worldwide, the logistic services companies are certified according to ISO 9001 and/or TS16949 in quality management and, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 or EMAS standards in environmental management.
